Who We Are

Our Mission

Uniting communities through service in the South Jersey-Philadelphia region by harnessing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

COMMUNITY is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization that seeks to promote civic engagement and greater cross-cultural understanding through community service and social events in the South Jersey-Philadelphia region.

Our Story

We are seven friends who met one weeknight in November 2016 at a Wegmans’ second floor café to formalize a shared set of objectives: to serve our community, spread joy, and promote unity through diversity. Three hours and several chocolate chip cookies later, the vision for COMMUNITY was formed.

In the first six months, COMMUNITY made great strides thanks to the tremendous support of our volunteers and donors. We kicked off our COMMUNITY Socials initiative with a well-attended multi-cultural Skate Night at a roller rink in Cherry Hill, NJ. In this short time, COMMUNITY also provided over a thousand meals to the hungry, made dozens of Mu’ana (welcome) bags for newly arrived refugees, assembled hundreds of care packages for migrant farm workers, and more.

In addition to observing a steady growth of our volunteer base, COMMUNITY has been fortunate to partner with over half a dozen regional organizations to put forth an array of memorable services including our Cakes4Kids program in partnership with Oaks Integrated Care, a Women’s Wellness event in partnership with Fearless Beauty, and COMMUNITY Meals for the hungry in partnership with local mosques and churches.

COMMUNITY hopes to continue generating support and partnerships as it finds more opportunities to serve and strengthen the region.
