Hi volunteers! We are holding a donation drive for the Gloucester County Special Services School District (GCSSSD), which runs a Migrant Education Program here in South Jersey. The project offers supplemental instructional and supportive services for eligible children throughout the 9 southernmost counties, where more than 90% of the state’s migrant student population has been identified.
Participating students receive daily classroom instruction, transportation, enrichment activities, nutritious meals, and extensive health and support services. After-school camp care is also offered and features a variety of sports and games. Evening programs are available for older migrant students who may be working in the fields and are unable to attend daytime classes.
GCSSSD is in need of the following items:
- Children’s books
- Arts and crafts supplies (crayons, coloring books, markers, paints, etc.)
- Small toys (nothing too large as families do not have the space for them)
- Children’s summer clothing only
- New white colored adult size t-shirts or gift cards to AC Moore to buy them. Need at least 60 shirts in a variety of sizes (S, M, L, XL, 2XL)
Donations must be in great or new condition. Items will be collected through Thursday, July 13. Please contact [email protected] to coordinate the drop off of your items. We will also need volunteers to help sort through the donations on the evening of Friday, July 14 (click on link to RSVP).
