May 29, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 5:30 pm EDT
Care Packages for Migrants
Blueberry season is upon us! Help us honor the hands that pick our berries.
In partnership with Migrant Worker Outreach and Haitian Migrant Worker Outreach (MWO), a volunteer-run organization based in Medford, NJ, CommUNITY SJP will assemble care packages for migrant workers and their families during their six to eight week stay here in southern New Jersey.
Volunteers will meet on Monday, May 29th at 1:00PM in Marlton, NJ to assemble the packs consisting mainly of toiletries. The items will be distributed in early June when workers and their young children arrive by bus after their multi-day journeys. Many workers of Haitian descent are coming from their homes in southern Florida. Hispanic workers are journeying from Mexico, Central America, and other states within the U.S.
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us at: [email protected]
We can only accommodate a limited number of volunteers. If you are interested, please email or message us at your earliest.
Items that we are currently seeking: pens, small note pads, cotton bandanas ($1 each at Wal-Mart) by Monday, May 29th.
