COMMUNITY SJP is collecting non-perishable foods to provide grocery bags to local families in Ethel Lawrence Homes in Mount Laurel, NJ.
Ethel Robinson Lawrence was a civil rights activist who served as the lead plaintiff in the Mt Laurel, NJ litigation for affordable housing. These efforts led to the NJ Fair Housing Act, the NJ Council on Affordable Housing (COAH) and the Mt Laurel doctrine. In her final years, Lawrence worked closely with attorney Peter O’Connor to start the nonprofit organization Fair Share Housing Development Inc., which built over 200 units for moderate- to low-income tenants in Mt Laurel.
